Green Tea Boost HLD and Lowers LDL
Too much cholesterol is known to cause arteriosclerosis, myocardial infarction (heart attack), and cerebral infarction (stroke). But not all cholesterol is bad or unhealthy. LDL cholesterol is bad and HDL cholesterol is good. Too much LDL cholesterol can cause cells in the body to oxidize and cause arteriosclerosis. Catechin, which is found in Japanese green tea, blocks the formation of bad LDL cholesterol and therefore is helpful in preventing arteriosclerosis. Not only does the Catechin in Japanese green tea prevent bad LDL cholesterol from forming, but it increases good HDL cholesterol levels in the body as well.
Green Tea Reduces Bad Cholesterol
Cholesterol is usually cited as the 'bad guy' for causing various diseases in adults, but it's a chemical that is naturally present and necessary in our bodies for important processes such as manufacturing cell membranes and fusing cells. But there is 'good' cholesterol and 'bad' cholesterol. Researchers found that by drinking green tea the 'bad' cholesterol can be reduced, and tea-drinkers can eat almost twice the foods containing cholesterol as a those who don't drink green tea, but still have an equal cholesterol count.
Green Tea Reduces Cholesterol Absorption
Green tea consumption lowers cholesterol: The findings provide direct evidence that green tea has a profound inhibitory effect on the intestinal absorption of cholesterol.

Green Tea Lowers High Cholesterol
Research shows that green tea lowers total cholesterol and raises HDL ("good") cholesterol in both animals and people. One population-based study found that men who drink green tea are more likely to have lower total cholesterol than those who do not drink green tea. Results from one animal study suggest that polyphenols in green tea may block the intestinal absorption of cholesterol and promote its excretion from the body. In another small study of male smokers, researchers found that green tea significantly reduced blood levels of harmful LDL cholesterol.

Green Tea Lowers Cholesterol
Chinese green tea lowers cholesterol level through an increase in fecal lipid excretion. The study demonstrated: green tea significantly lowered the serum cholesterol level. This benefit is achieved by increasing fecal bile acids and cholesterol excretion.

Green Tea & Serum Cholesterol Levels
Study of cross-sectional data on 1,306 males in Japan found: serum total cholesterol levels were inversely related to the consumption of green tea. Adjusted mean concentrations of total cholesterol were 8 mg/dl lower in men drinking (green tea diet) 9 or more cups of green tea per day than in those consuming 0 ~ 2 cups per day. 3 cups per day was the minimum for the green tea benefit.
